Kerry Sunderland is an Australian writer based in Aotearoa New Zealand. Her words have been published in New Zealand Geographic, The Spinoff, NZ Listener, North & South, Nelson Mail/Stuff and the Byron Echo, as well as numerous trade magazines including Inside Film, Metro Magazine, Filmink, Research News, Research World, HR Monthly and Australian Educator.
Her personal essay, 'Mother Issues', will appear in the upcoming anthology, 'Otherhood, which will be published by Massey University Press in early 2024.
Kerry has an MA in Creative Writing from Victoria University of Wellington (2017) and was joint winner of the 2018 Hachette Mentorship in Australia for her yet-to-be published memoir, Beyond the Blue Door.
Her personal essay, ‘Scared to Death’, which was published in Headlands: New Stories of Anxiety (Victoria University Press, 2018) deals with similar themes to Beyond the Blue Door. It is currently being adapted for the screen by Auckland-based producer David Jacobs and director Mia Maramara.
