Kerry Sunderland is an Australian writer based in Aotearoa New Zealand. Her words have been published in New Zealand Geographic, The Spinoff, NZ Listener, North & South, Nelson Mail/Stuff and the Byron Echo, as well as numerous trade magazines including Inside Film, Metro Magazine, Filmink, Research News, Research World, HR Monthly and Australian Educator.
Kerry has a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from Victoria University of Wellington (2017) and was joint winner of the 2018 Hachette Mentorship in Australia for her yet-to-be published memoir, Beyond the Blue Door.
Her personal essay, 'Mother Issues', was published in 'Otherhood: Essays on being Childfree, Childless and Child-Adjacent (Massey University Press, 2024). Her short memoir, 'The Eagle's Gift' was published in A Liminal Gathering (Elixir & Star Press, 2024). Her personal essay, ‘Scared to Death’, which was published in Headlands: New Stories of Anxiety (Victoria University Press, 2018) deals with similar themes to Beyond the Blue Door.
